Banging, on the other hand, is usually a result of a plumbing issue often referred to as water hammer. The banging sound is related to the water pressure in the pipes and thus usually happens when the dishwasher is demanding more water than the pipes feeding it can supply.
Water hammer can also cause banging in the pipes.
Unfortunately there isn’t much you can do to fix this on your own therefore it’s easiest to contact a plumber if you suspect this is the problem.
Faulty pumps as well as motors are the most likely cause of strange loud sounds coming from your machine. Luckily these parts can be replaced so you shouldn’t need a whole new dishwasher. You may even be able to to the repair on your own or you may wish to phone a local engineer.
